Welcome back to Playstation Base! I hope you are all feeling fine!
I bang on all the time about how great a service Playstation Plus is. I have mentioned in various posts how it will be the best £11.99 you will ever spend, you get great games, online save storage, blah blah blah. Rest assured, it is still a great service! You still get all of those things and long may it last!
Playstation Blog announced back in November, the games we would freely receive for December and January in an unexpected double whammy. December was probably the best month of the year, where we saw the first AAA (or close to) game in DC Comics inspired brawler, Injustice.
January follows on quite well actually and although the ‘Final List’ for this months Playstation Plus hasn’t been totally confirmed, there are a couple of titles that we already know about.
The big announcement for the month would be the standalone expansion for Infamous: Second Son, Infamous: First Light. First Light is a mini-sequel where we see Fetch– the neon lady– return to Curdun Cay, the prison built specifically for conduits. It’s pretty much an expansion explaining her back story and how she came to be the lonely rebel that she is, but nonetheless, I would expect this to be pretty good to play. Infamous: Second Son was a great game and with not being the greatest fan of the series before, Second Son was a real game changer for the franchise, for me personally. This is one game that I will play and I will finish, I just have to add it to the end of my huge back log which will forever grow as the weeks and months continue.
The second confirmed title is The Swapper, a side scrolling puzzle-platformer set within a damaged Space Station. Your job is to explore and collect orbs, which in turn activate mechanisms, ultimately leading to your escape. The game was developed by Facepalm Studios, an indie team based in Helsinki. But don’t let that fool you, with a Metacritic score of 88.7%, it still got a much better review than Destiny.
Playstation Plus for the month is all but finalised. We may see a little more for the PS4, such as a release for the PS+ edition of DRIVECLUB. We may even see some compensation from the Christmas network outage we all suffered. This could be in the form of a new game, a free month of PS+, or an improved sale. Who knows!
Whatever we may get, enjoy, and have a happy New Year!
