Netflix – Orange Is The New Black

orangenewblackOne thing I love about Netflix is their innovation for investment into their own exclusive content, which they have dubbed ‘Netflix Originals.’

The most recent Netflix Original to be released is ‘Orange is the New Black’, created by Jenji Kohan, produced by Lionsgate Television, based on Piper Kermans memoir, Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Womans Prison.

Orange is a quirky little series about a woman who has to go to prison for a crime she committed 10 years ago.  Not that quirky?  The circumstances regarding Piper Chapman’s past are intriguingly funny as you grow to learn that she once met a lady called Alex Vause in a bar, who later became her lesbian lover and accomplice in international drug smuggling.  However, Piper is now engaged to her long term boyfriend Larry (Jason Biggs) and the series basically follows Pipers strives and struggles during her 15 month sentence in Litchfield Prison.

Admittedly a bit of a chick flick, most men would not necessarily be that switched on for this, but there are many scenes of lesbian action and with some of the cast of American Pie, there are many hilarious scenes, complete with racial stereotypes and a crazy lesbian named Crazy Eyes, who is mindblowingly shocking, yet madly entertaining.

Don’t want to give away any spoilers, so the only thing I can do is recommend to watch!   The series only aired Friday and I have nearly watched all 13 episodes, and already I want more!
